| This is one of the key disciplines of this Institute has expertise for, the preparation and characterization of inorganic materials, metal complexes, supported metal complexes for hetergenising the homogeneous systems and utilizing these materials for reactions of industrial significance in homogeneous, heterogeneous and photocatalysis. As an outcome, the discipline has developed and transferred several technologies to industries for various materials and processes encompassing precipitated silica, Zeolite-A, value-addition of kimberlite, CaCO3 of various grades, styrene epoxide etc. Contribution of the discipline is also splendid in research front through publications in international journals of repute and IPR protection through patents. The discipline has both international and national linkages for conducting collaborative research projects. The group achievement is also recognized by various awards, bilateral exchange foreign visits and prestigious fellowships. The current emphasis of the discipline is to synthesize various materials of industrial importance, preferably through value-addition, including nano-crystalline materials and their catalytic applications related to oxidation, alkylation/acylation, hydrogen storage and hydrogenation, transition metal complexes for hydrogenation and hydroformylation and asymmetric catalysis through chiral catalysis in both homogeneous and heterogeneous routes. | | | With growing awareness and concerns about health, safety and environment, it is highly realized to develop energy efficient eco-friendly and safe processes with zero byproduct for chemical processes in industries in which catalysis plays a very significant role. With the enhanced understanding of coordination complexes, ligand design and preparation of specialty inorganic chemicals to use, as supporting materials to heterogenize homogeneous catalytic systems and as selective adsorbing materials, investigations were focused on (1) Catalysis for selective organic transformations (2) Specialty inorganics like, zeolites, clays, silicas, calcium carbonate and inorganic metal complexes and (3) Adsorption, purification and separation. The discipline has around 14 scientists and technical officers and more than 30 research students pursuing their research and for their doctoral program. | | | | | - Technology Development Projects
